You don’t always want something just because you can’t have it—but in the case of the vivo X200 Ultra, the desire is entirely justified. Much like its predecessor, the X100 Ultra, the X200 Ultra stands out for one reason: incredible camera hardware.
Interestingly, vivo made a bold move this time by swapping the 1-inch main camera sensor for a slightly smaller 1/1.28" unit. To compensate, they paired it with a 35mm equivalent lens, a somewhat niche choice mostly seen in Nubia’s phones. This unusual focal length might seem like a distraction from the smaller sensor, but it could also signal a clever photographic direction by vivo.
A more meaningful upgrade is found in the ultrawide camera, which now uses the same large 1/1.28" sensor, replacing the older 1/2.0" one from the previous model. The 200MP 85mm telephoto camera remains unchanged, which makes sense—it didn’t need an upgrade. Together, these form a trio of what are essentially three “main” cameras, backed by one of the best selfie cameras in the industry.
Beyond the cameras, there are some solid refinements: the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset replaces last year’s flagship SoC, and the battery has been bumped up to 6000mAh, with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging support.
An interesting addition this year is vivo’s optional Photography Kit, which includes a battery grip case and a telephoto extender lens—clearly targeting photography enthusiasts.

Unboxing Experience:
The unboxing remains familiar to those used to vivo’s flagship packaging. The X200 Ultra ships in a graphite-colored box and includes a 90W charger, USB-A to USB-C cable, and a matching silicone case. While some regions drop chargers in the name of sustainability, vivo continues to provide them in the box—thankfully.
Final Thoughts:
The vivo X200 Ultra doesn’t just build on the legacy of the X100 Ultra—it redefines it. With some clever changes, top-tier specs, and an ambitious camera setup, it’s a photography powerhouse that will leave tech fans hoping for a global release.
